FIRM PROFILE

We have been providing structural engineering services for buildings since 1948, when the firm was started by Arthur W. Lookup. Since that time, we have engineered a broad range of projects, including:

Educational projects for public and private schools and colleges, including classroom and research facilities, dormitories, dining halls, and athletic facilities. We have engineered about a third of the buildings at Penn State University’s main campus.
Large hospital projects including recent additions to Hershey Medical Center, Christiana Hospital, Rhode Island Medical Mall and Abington Memorial Hospital.
Full care retirement communities, nursing homes, and housing for the elderly.
Courthouses, municipal buildings and correctional facilities.
Arenas, including a major expansion of the Pennsylvania State Farm Show complex and the planned Xarena Motorsports building for indoor motor-cross competition.
Hotels, including all 18 of the former McIntosh Motor Inns.
System control centers for electric utilities all over the country.

Our staff consists of ten full time employees, four of whom are professional engineers, with registrations in twelve (12) states comprising a large portion of the country's population. We are fully computerized for design and drafting, having utilized computers extensively since 1967.

Our strengths lie in providing prompt, efficient and useful services for our client and the project. We work hard to develop the most appropriate and economical structural solutions for each building. We have a special interest in masonry, moisture movements, and deformations of wall materials. We make a special effort to solve the problems of the project and present complete and well thought out solutions on the construction drawings so that contractors can submit a tighter bid and avoid problem areas during construction. We make a concerted effort with our client to achieve a successfully completed project.
